6Therapy for individuals and couples in midlife crises in Miami

You're ready to leave your past behind and start a new chapter in your life, but not sure how to do it. You have so many questions and insecurities about therapy… I hear you, and this is why I have answered the most frequent questions.

Who are your clients?

My clients are primarily individuals, couples, and professionals experiencing sex addiction, betrayal, anxiety, and depression due to issues associated with midlife.

In which languages do you attend clients?

I am fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese and can hold sessions in any of those languages.

How long does therapy typically last?

Each client has different needs and issues, making it difficult to predict the length of counseling until we begin working together. I do not believe in long-term therapy. I have developed effective therapeutic interventions to help clients experience the utmost healing and move on with their lives as early as possible. Once healed from their initial complaints, many clients go deeper into the healing process and stay longer to address different issues.

What happens during the first counseling session?

Before coming for your first 60-minute session, you will be scheduling a free 15-minute video consultation to learn if we are a good match and how I can better help you. Then, before the first session, I will send you the following documents: consent for treatment, initial intake, and credit card information. The objective of getting this information before the session is to dedicate your session exclusively to your issues without going through admin procedures. I cannot access your credit card information; it is securely kept with a HIPPA-secure internet system. Your credit card will be automatically charged the same day after your session. During the first session, I will learn more about you and your issues, and we both will have a clear vision of your goals. This will help us to track your progress in therapy.

What is HIPAA?

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) is a federal law, and health providers must comply. The objective is to give patients more control of their health information, set boundaries on the use and release of health records, and establish appropriate safeguards to protect patients' privacy.

How often will I need to come to counseling?

For individual counseling, I find that weekly sessions are usually more effective, at least initially. Once you feel better, we can move sessions for biweekly and monthly, depending on the case. For couples counseling, sessions can be biweekly if the couple does not present with several conflicts.

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions can be online or in-person, depending on your preference. If you prefer in-person sessions, I am conveniently located at Forum Aventura, adjacent to the Aventura Brightline train station, directly across from the Aventura Mall. There is free dedicated parking for my clients.

My office is a safe place. Its warm, cozy, and inviting atmosphere will make you feel cared for, supported, and relaxed. You can take off your shoes (if you like).

If you prefer online sessions, we utilize a secure HIPAA-compliant platform to offer video counseling. If the commute is not an issue, I would like the first session (not consultation) to be held in person to better know each other. Non-verbal communication represents more than 70% of the overall communication. Seeing you in person, at least once, helps us to better connect and allows me to better assist you clinically if you decide to continue with video therapy.

 What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is one of the most (if not the most) effective interventions that help you go to the source of the negative emotions. Once there, you will be able to clean the initial suffering and extinguish your initial complaints, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, traumas, fears, unhealthy behaviors, and others. I am an advanced certified clinical hypnotherapist. Along with hypnotherapy, I utilize other techniques to help individuals deeply heal from their wounds faster. My clients do appreciate feeling free from their initial complaints after experiencing just a few hypnotherapy sessions.

How long is the duration of each session, and how much does it cost?

I have tested different ways to make therapy more effective and, at the same time, save time and money for my clients. I usually do single 60-min sessions and or double 120-min sessions, depending on some instances:

  • Hypnotherapy session: it is not possible to be done in a single session. Hypnotherapy is a powerful intervention, and clients need time for their in-depth work. Therefore, a double session is necessary for effective healing.

  • For individual and couples sessions, I may grant a double session whenever clients are very emotional and need more time to process their feelings.

Fees:

  • 60-minute in-person or online individual or couple sessions: US$ 250.

  • 90-minute in-person or online individual or couple sessions: US$ 375.

  • 120-minute in-person or online individual or couple sessions: US$ 500.

  • 120-minute in-person or online Hypnotherapy sessions: US$ 500.

Does my insurance cover sessions?

I am an out-of-network provider because working with insurance companies prevents me from delivering quality work for my clients. However, I provide a superbill so you can directly submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement using your out-of-network benefits.

How do I seek reimbursement from my insurance company?

Depending on your insurance, they can reimburse your sessions upon submitting the superbill we can provide you.

Do you have evening and weekend appointments available?

My office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., by appointment only. I do not offer weekend appointments at this time.

Do you give homework?

When you work with me, I want to help you heal in the most pleasant way possible. I am highly trained in various techniques and interventions so that I can customize the treatment according to your needs and preferences. However, in some situations, you might be unable to avoid them, especially in couples therapy, when they need to train new behavior and communication skills.

What kind of results can I expect from counseling?

I often hear my clients say that coming for therapy with me is a very gratifying experience. They feel very comfortable talking about everything and say they do not feel judged or pressured. You can expect to learn to face your issues without getting trapped. You will feel more under control of your emotions and consequently learn to better deal with situations that drain you. You will feel more empowered and confident and have a better sense of peace, well-being, contentment, and quality of life. You will be healed!

What if I need to cancel our appointment or I get sick?

I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. Please contact me before 48 hours to cancel your session to avoid paying the full session rate. Suppose something happens last minute that prevents you from coming to your appointment. In that case, I offer phone and video sessions to avoid paying any unnecessary cancellation fees.
